Geminid peak night (December 14/15) weather outlook for Europe

Here comes the best Geminid night. Peak rates combine with weekend for a perfect observing opportunity. Let us take a look at the weather outlook across Europe.

It appears tonight will be a somewhat better night on average, with larger parts of Europe having a chance for clear skies. In particular the southern and eastern part of the Iberian peninsula looks good – in particular the southern part looks best, while eastern Spain might get some mid-level and high clouds in the second half of the night. The eastern half of France, north Italy and much of Switzerland looks good too. North Italy will be difficult in any case due to extreme light pollution. Some chances for at least partly clear skies across BeNeLux. Good chances also for the northern Adriatic, south Italy and south Greece. Also looking good for central Scandinavia.

Elsewhere the prospect for clear skies are less favourable, but do keep an eye out for any unexpected clearing – it will be worth it. Some possibilities for intermittently partly clear skies in Germany, likely above the fog. Also some chances for intermittently partly clear skies in eastern Slovakia, Hungary and northern Romania.
