Very cold airmass over central, eastern and southeastern Europe in the next 2-3 days

Very cold airmass will persist over large parts of the eastern half of Europe in the next 2-3 days. Temperatures up to 10-14 °C colder than average for this period.

A northerly meridional flow is in place over northern and eastern Europe, pushing cold polar maritime airmass into the region. Airmass with 850 mbar temperatures up to 10-14 °C colder than average is in place and will be slowly advecting eastwards in the next 2-4 days.

2 m temperatures will also be well below average for this period, particularly on Sunday and Monday as temperatures go up 5-8 °C below average, locally even more. This translates into morning lows around freezing (expect frost in many areas) and daytime highs between 5-10 °C across much of the region.
