Global Weather News and Forecasts, covering the United States, Canada and Europe
LearnWeather Room is an educational set of tutorials on various weather phenomena published by Severe Weather Europe. Tutorials will cover all kinds of weather, from winter to summer, and from the basic to intermediate and advanced levels throughout the learning process.
The Severe Thunderstorms section, for example, will deal with how and why thunderstorms form, underlying mechanisms, and storm initiation. We will examine various environmental factors and parameters influencing thunderstorm type, morphology, longevity, and severity. The learning process will include visual storm structure identification, typical visually identifiable features, recognition of general thunderstorm morphology, and distinguishing between storm types and subtypes.
The tutorials cover various aspects of convective and non-convective weather phenomena, including severity thresholds and types of severe weather events. LearnWeather is composed of the following sections:
Introduction to Weather basics.
Theory about global weather. Learn what shapes the global weather, from the high levels of the atmosphere to the ocean depths.
Learn all about severe weather, from extreme heat waves to thunderstorms; how they form, and why some are so destructive.
Learn everything about tornadoes: Tornado classification, how they form, which storms produce them, tornado statistics, etc.
Learn everything about the classification system for clouds and different cloud types and shapes throughout the atmosphere.
Learn how to recognize different storm features and how you can tell if a storm is severe or not.
The theory of weather forecasting, how models work, and how long-range forecasts are produced.
Learn about the specialty of winter weather, from winter storms to large pressure patterns across the entire hemisphere, that help to shape our daily weather.
Tropical weather theory. Learn what causes hurricanes or typhoons, how dangerous they are, and why they are one of the most destructive formations on Earth.
Learn everything about the stratosphere, the Polar Vortex, and why this layer is important to understand the weather on Earth.
Everything about the frozen state of the water.
Everything about weather instruments and stations: How do we measure weather?
