Strong wind gusts and flooding in northern Italy – November 11, 2013
Severe wind gusts and heavy rain was reported from the province of Rimini in the Emilia-Romagna region in northern Italy, which was a part of the MDT risk of DAY 1 Outlook for 11/11/2013. Severe gusts caused property damage with many trees downed. Locally 60-125mm of rain was reported across the region with up to 250mm in the Apennine highlands and wind gusts up to 205 km/h were recorded on the Croce Arcana station which is based at 1,750m above sea level. On the coast in Cattolica, wind gusts up to 133 km/h were recorded and up to 125 km/h in Torre Pedrera. Storm surge up to 1m and high waves up to 9m were also reported from the coast of the Rimini province.
