Severe winds and high rainfall accumulations reported from Galicia, NW Spain – October 21, 2013
As discussed in the update yesterday, a cold front was crossing the NW Iberia and hit area Galicia region in the evening hours. The area was included in the MDT risk on DAY 1 Outlook for 21/10/2013 for severe winds and heavy wind threat. Very high rainfall accumulations and some severe wind gusts were reported from local AEMET stations.

Strong to severe winds were hitting Galicia region much of the day, here are peak wind gusts measured on the stations:
- 132 km/h – Fisterra
- 104 km/h – Cabo Vilan
- 101 km/h – Estaca de Bares
- 80 km/h – Vigo airport
- 76 km/h – Santiago de Compostela airport
- 72 km/h – Padron

Currently, there is another organized line of storms just NW of Iberia within the SLGT risk on DAY 1 Outlook for 22/10/2013 and its moving eastwards across the risk area.
