The intense wind storm Christian leaving NE Europe this morning – Oct 29, 08:00 UTC

The intense wind storm Christian, which caused damaging winds across the western Europe yesterday, is already over the Baltic states and quite rapidly moving into NW Russia while gradually weakening. It is still accompanied by monstly non-convective severe winds, as gusts between 90 and 120 km/h have been reported from Baltic coasts around Latvia and Estonia lately across the MDT risk area of DAY 1 Outlook for 29/10/2013.

As seen on the satellite, very cold maritime airmass behind this system, is spreading across the southern Scandinavia. Widespread showers and thunderstorms are occuring, bringing some heavy rain, strong winds and possibly some small hail. Those will be spreading into the Baltics today.
