Cold frontal boundary approaching Portugal and Spain – Oct 18, 12:30 UTC

A well-defined frontal boundary approaching western Iberia can be seen on the satellite imagery today, the front is associated with a large upper trough sitting over the eastern Atlantic sea. The front will continue to race east across the SLGT risk area issued on DAY 1 outlook for 18/10/2013 and could bring some heavy rain and strong/severe winds over parts Portugal and NW Spain later this afternoon/evening. Given the somewhat enhanced shear and SREH, a funnel cloud or a brief tornado cannot be excluded either.
