Tornado and hailstorms in southern France – January 7, 2018

Strong thunderstorms hit extreme southern France on Sunday morning, producing at least one tornado and large hail. The cutoff upper low that has been affecting western Europe for the past few days produced severe thunderstorms in extreme SSW of France on Sunday morning. The system had already produced tornadoes and hailstorms (as well as intense snowfall) in Spain. On Sunday morning an isolated supercell produced a tornado in St.-Jean-Pla-de-Corts, Pyrenees Orientales.
