Widespread thunderstorms hit the central Mediterranean on September 30, 2013, including the south Italy. The town of Scalea in Calabria, south Italy, was hit by what eyewitnesses described was possibly a waterspout or a tornado. No photos or videos of the event have been published, but there are widespread reports of major damage to the local swimming pool roof structure, which apparently took a direct hit.
