Multiple tornadoes hit the south of Italy – November 20, 2018

Several damaging tornadoes hit parts of south Italy on Tuesday.

Weather conditions across southern Italy on Tuesday were favourable for formation of tornadoes. A strongly sheared environment overlapped with moderate instability, producing three tornadoes in Calabria and Puglia.

Taurisano (Lecce), Puglia, south Italy

The tornado downed trees, collapsed, blew of metal roofing. A train was hit by a downed tree. No injuries reported.



Cutro (Crotone), Calabria, south Italy

No rating for this event, 2 people reported injured as the tornado hit a train. Damage to houses and cars.



Salerno, Calabria, south Italy

A large waterspot made landfall in the harbor and caused minor damage. No injuries.
