Funnel cloud near Troyes, France – Oct 11, 2013
A cold air funnel cloud was observed in Lepine near Troyes, France on Friday Oct 11, 2013 around 15:15 UTC in the afternoon. It took place from a non-stormy convective cell. The area was within the cold maritime airmass under the large upper low system rotating over the west-central Europe. Such setups are often characterized by cold mid level temperatures and therefore steep low-level lapse rates that can spawn spouts or waterspouts if over the waters. A TSTM risk area on Day 1 Outlook for 11/10/2013 has been assigned for NE France.
