Windstorm for higher elevations in the Alps tonight and tomorrow – winds over 150 km/h possible

It is going to be very windy across the Alps tonight and tomorrow as the first of two cold fronts pushes across the region. Strong northerly winds are expected, producing a strong windstorm locally at higher elevations. Winds gusting up to 130-160 km/h expected.

Intense winds are expected to develop late in the afternoon on Monday across the eastern Alps and then spread across eastern and central Alps on Wednesday and slowly weaken early on Thursday. See ARPEGE and ICON-EU model guidance for peak gusts below.
