Spanish plume brings Saharan dust into western and central Europe

The ongoing Spanish plume event is pushing significant amounts of Saharan dust into the skies of western Europe. Saharan dust will push as far north as the UK and Ireland.

Moderate amounts of Saharan dust are pushing across the Mediterranean into the Iberian peninsula and France right now. Some dust is advecting as far north as north Germany. This is a persistent pattern and dust will keep advecting into western Europe for at least the next 4 days. See the pattern evolution in the maps below. Keep an eye out for hazy skies.
