Persistent rainfall for parts of SE Spain in the next 48-72 hours!

Persistent rainfall will continue in parts of southeastern Spain in the next three days. Further local flooding is expected.

A cutoff upper low is pushing from northern Morocco on Saturday and will park itself over the Iberian peninsula over the weekend and early into next week. It will be pushed northeast on Tuesday as a long wave trough pushes in from the Atlantic.

Persistent convective and orographic rainfall will result in totals of 50-100 mm over a wide region of SE Spain and locally up to 250-350 mm by early on Tuesday. Further flooding is expected, areas of highest rainfall totals may see very significant flooding.
