The Day in Review – January 15, 2017

Today’s weather events were dominated by the persistent cutoff low over the central Mediterranean. It caused some significant snowfall, with strong snow showers reported in central Italy, the Pyrenees and on the southern side of the Mediterranean in Algeria.

Looking ahead at Monday, the most significant event is the excessive snowfall event (again) in Abruzzo, central Italy, where up to 100 cm or possibly more are expected over the 24h:
